  • [GUIDE] Z5 Walkthrough

So, i raised lot of characters to lvl 50 just to get the recovery scroll before magic city, so i started to follow a pattern that lets me save some time, but with doing all the quests.

I wrote down all my actions while raising a new character, and this is the result. A miniguide that it's not very necessary because the game is simple, but i hope it can make you earn some time and make the game a bit less boring.

You can follow this guide with every character, i will not reccomend the build to use (there are more useful guides for that), nor i will list every time that you will have to go to the item or equipment shop, because it depends greatly on how you play and what mobs give you.

The only advice i can give is that you shouldn't max out you active skills early on, because you will go bankrupt by buying sp potions.
Other than potions, use your money to buy return scrolls, equipment only before boss battles and only if necessary (equips dopped by mobs are usually better than those selled by the merchant), and consider buying food for late boss battles.

These are the directions I will use:
    North
    West.........East
    South

IMPORTANT: I will give a general strategy for the bosses, along with a recommended level and gear. Note that my recommendation is not for the minimum condition you should have to fight that boss, but the maximum you can hope for. If you can't beat that boss when you're already at the recommended level, don't try to improve your character's status anymore. Instead, try to improve your player ability, like when and what skills to use and how to manually dodge enemy attacks.

    Part 1 – Tania

You will start at Agran village, the first thing you have to do is to talk with grandma Bella. She asks to defeat 8 violent rimes: exit north of the village and there they are, kill 8 of them and return to the village. Talk with Ellen the merchant, then again with granda Bella. Exit the village and there will be a scene. You will return to the village, and now you can accept some quests: talk to all the NPCs that have a “!” in their head.

NOTE: you can get 2 titles right now: smuggler and pro smuggler. They give 10% and 15% DEX, good if you’re a mechanic, useless if you’re not, but if you want that just talk (talk, not shop) with the dark merchant until you get the second one (30 times total).
Now time do to some quests. You can even skip them, but I will include them in this guide. They give lots of money and exp, and it’s nice when you can skip 1 or 2 level just by talking with NPC.

Ok, exit from the village (north) and go mine. You have to get 8 bronzes, from the orange crystals you see in the areas. You can mine a limited time from each crystal, but if you exit and reenter the zone they will be available again.

Go back to the village and talk to Gale the miner, then talk to him again. Now he asks to kill 10 Miner Zombies. Kill them and return to him. Talk again with him and then with granda Nieke (2 times), he will ask to gather shiny stones. You can found them in various areas at the north of the village, pick up 10 of them and return to him (don’t bother killing monster at the moment). Talk with him and with the equipment merchant, and now you can go killing monsters!

Go trough some areas until you view a scene and you have to kill a miniboss. Now you should kill 12 demon scout for a quest, and try to get 2 fresh veggies from them. Note that in the area before the miniboss there is a chest that contains a scanning scroll. Once you have killed 12 scouts, got 2 fresh veggies and slayed the miniboss, you can go back to the village. Talk with Lisa, talk with grandma Bella, talk with the elementalist, talk with the inn keeper and with the equipment merchant, combine a salad from the blacksmith and talk to him.

Then go north, past the miniboss area and you will see a scene. Do some exploration (don’t kill mobs), in this area there are 3 root fruits, in the next you will find a chest with abnormal status potion and more root fruits. Collect 10 of them and return to the village. Talk with NPC that have “!” or “?” in their head, and go back to the forest area. Go forth until you meet Croakers, kill them until you get 10 crocodile leathers. When you think you’re ready, go to the last zone and fight Tania, the first real boss.

STRATEGY: Bosses are stronger than you, don’t fight them face-to-face. Try attacking from the side, use skill when you’re in a safe position, dodge their attacks and don’t stop moving. Use potions, lots of potions. You will die lot of times, but the key of victory is to learn their pattern of attacks and learn how to avoid all of them. Tania in particular isn’t so difficult, just try to finish it off quickly because she has a high HP regeneration. She can attack only in front of her, and she can summon spiders. Kill them fast because after a while they grow up and become stronger. If you can’t beat her, try leveling up a bit and buy better equipments. Recommended level: 11-15 with lvl 10 gear.

    Part 2 – Haima

After defeating Tania, go back to the village and talk with everyone with a “!” or a “?” on its head. Now it’s time to take the south exit. In the second area you can find a chest with a broken necklace. Kill frankes and get 12 magic crystals. In the next area you can find lizardmen, kill 12 of them and return to Agran village. Talk with the item merchant and the portal guy to finish all the first village’s quests.

Now go south all the way, go past the forest ( in the last forest area there is a chest with a return scroll), and you will see a scene and will have to kill some slimes. Kick their flaccid asses and you can go on, but talk to the scout. In the next area you can mine irons. Collect 27 of them. You can get the goat slaughterer title (+5 all stat) by killing some goatman. In the area before the next town you can find a chest with a random treasure box.

NOTE: random treasure boxes give you an equip or accessory of you level. The level is the one you have when you OPEN it, not when you GET it, so I recommend to not open that box (but the same goes for the boxes you get in the daily events) until you are like lvl 50+, because in the early level you won’t even have the time to use that equip since you will level up very fast.

Go to Deva castle square, after the scenes talk with all NPCs (yes, the ones with “!” or “?”), and talk to the portal guy to seti this town as your hometown. Go back to the forest from which you arrived. In your way, pick up 12 forest fruits (you can exit and reenter to make them respawn). You will return to the area with mud golems and banshee, kill them and complete the quests “kill 12 mud ogres” and “collect 15 banshee’s cloth”. Go back to the village, on the road talk with the scout.

Now, open the map. You should go towards the area with a yellow circle. In your way you should pick up 10 adoraum flowers and kill 15 hell flies. Once arrived, you view a scene, then you go back to Deva castle (before entering talk to the guy with “!” on his head), but after another scene you’re back in the previous area, and you have to kill a miniboss.

Go back the Deva castle and tak with every NPC. Go to the north exit and kill hallow ball and lizard soldier to complete 2 quests (collect 14 warrior swords and 10 luggage bag), return to the town, respeak with the “!” or “?” and go north again. Now open the map: I suggest to stay between the “deva castle downtown” and “deva castle backstreet” and kill the wooden mimics near the entrance of these zones. Mimics can be detected because they appear on the map as a grey point, while normal chests don’t (BTW, there is an abnormal status potion in the chest on the backstreet zone. Once you’ve got 16 mimic’s jewel you can either go back and take the reward or do that later.

Then you go north until you see a scene. Talk to the scout and go in the east area. Kill 15 Stone dragons and go back to the scout. Then continue until you reach the zone with a yellow circle on it (see the map) and here you will fight Haima, your second boss.

STRATEGY: Well, you will probably have an homing fire ball trying to burn your ass all the time. If you’re not in a hurry (and you’re not) you can constantly escape from him and use your skills when you get the chance. He can launch multiple fire balls in front of him, but if you’re a little distant you can avoid them easily. Then, he can summon a lot of minions that will explode if you get near them. If you don’t have high defense, you’re dead in one hit. Just run for a little and they will disappear, and in you’re in a pinch use your skills with invulnerability. Finally, if you’re good geared and have high defense you can consider fight him head on, cause he will stagger quite easily. Recommended level: 31-35 with lvl 30 gear.

Part 3 – Kaz and Kazu

You will find yourself in a prison. In the room next to yours, there is an item merchant and a chest. Exit the prison and kill 6 evil prisoner. Exit the prison again and talk to Lisa, then go on and you will arrive to Deva castle. Talk with everyone here. There is a repeatable quest that requires to kill 10 evil prisoners, you can do that if you need some levels.

Take the east exit and ignore mobs until you reach an empty square with a NPC in it. Talk to her (Feria) and then go back to the town. You will see another “!” on an NPC, talk to him. Now it’s time to kill Frankens until you get 15 mana water. When you kill 18 of them, return a moment to Deva town because you just finished a quest. With the 15 mana water, return to Feria and after a scene you have to beat a miniboss.

Now, you have a lot of quests to do. In the “sword rock w. outskirts” (see the map) talk with aros, then go to “sword rock border” (the area before the one with the yellow circle) to get 18 hellhound leather and 16 magic heart. Deliver the magic hearts to aros and he’ll give you another quest, now go to the area with a yellow circle and see a scene (talk with the apprentice magician). In this area you can kill hell spiders and demonic booms to complete 2 quests. Note that in this area there is an item merchant. When you clear the quests, go into the next area. In the bottom road there is a chest with a return scroll. Continue skipping areas until you arrive in a zone with a miniboss (Radhar) and 4 baphomet. Kill the miniboss and don’t leave the area. Here you can kill the 4 respawning baphomets to get 15 baphomet’s leather. Now return to Deva castle (this will be the last time). Here you can get rewards by talking with the “?” NPCs, and with this you have finished all of this town’s quests (except the repeteable one). Now you can go all the way to the area with the yellow circle (in this area there is a chest with an advanced pickaxe) and kill big eyes and imps to clear other 2 quests (18 big eyes’ crystal and 15 fire water). You can do that either in that area or the southern zone (“The volcano border”). Once done, go back to the apprentice magician and now you can go to the area with a yellow circle.

After a scene you can enter the airship. You can level up a few times with the mobs here, then you can go to the lower level and fight Kaz and Kazu.

STRATEGY: Well, for this fight and the next ones you should avoid using normal attack at all. Just use skill that can hit them both and you will waste less time. However, I suggest to target only one of them, and take them down one at one. The choice is up to you, just know this: the blue one can heal himself, when he does just hit him to stop him (but be careful, I died a lot of time trying to hit him under the red one’s attack); the red one instead can buff himself and the blue one and they become giant (only if the red one is at 1/3 hp), their attack and defense increase a lot and you can only run trying to dodge their attacks. It’s a long battle, I think the only times you will die is because you got distracted, their attacks are not so difficult to dodge. Recommended level: 50+ with lvl 50 gear.

    Part 4 – Hades

After defeating the twin bosses, you will find yourself in a new area, and you have to kill 6 mimic and 6 imp to go on. Do that and go in the next area, then the next one. Here, pay attention at the map, look at the chests, the one that isn’t on the map is a real chest, and it contains a recovery scroll.

Note: the recovery scroll is worth 100 ZEN, it is useful when refining end-game weapons, cause when they break, it will restore at the exact level they had before refining (you won’t lose bonuses, durability, evolution, or previous refining). So, you might want to start new character over and over just to get this scroll, send the weapon (or armor) you want to refine to that character, use it, and send back the equip. Then delete and start over again.

Continue to magic city Lucas, after some scenes you can talk with an old guy (ordo). Save before doing that because you will be forced to fight 4 dark imp and 4 naga general before returning to the city. Now talk with every “!” and “?” and remember to set this city as hometown. Then, return to the place where you had to kill 6 dark imps and 6 mimics, because you’ve got to kill more of them. When you have killed 20 imps, got 15 research materials and 20 magic stones, return to the magic city.

Talk with the NPCs and go to the north exit of the town. In this and the next zone, defeat 20 dark ents and collect 18 demon sword shards. Return to the town and take the rewards, and re-activate the dark ent quest (it’s repeatable).

Now go past the 2 areas with dark ents and demon swords, and you will be in an area with dark ents and hell spellers. Defeat respectively 20 and 18 of them, then return to the village and prepare for a miniboss battle. Note that in that area there is a chest with a durable cloack.

Ah, you should have earned the “ent slaughterer” title (+15 all stats) by killing 50 dark ents. If you didn’t get it… well you know what to do.

Going to the area with the yellow circle will lead to the miniboss battle (Vadma). Little tips: he attacks just like the hell spellers (the only difference is that he can heal) and if you stay very close to him when he launch his attacks you won’t get hit. So, if you’re a melee class you can just normal attack him, just pay attention to other mobs. He drops glory equips (lvl 70), so it’s a nice idea to farm him a little.

When you’ve beaten him, after a scene you have to collect 18 metal parts, that you get by defeating hell spellers. You can do that in the miniboss area. After done, go the the west exit of the miniboss area and talk with the engineer. You will be in a new area and have to defeat 4 devil assassin.

When done, go north and exit this area. You will be in front of a scout, talk to him and slay 20 devil assassin. If these monsters seem too strong for your level, you can just go south and return to the previous areas to make a little exp.

When you return to the village there are 2 more quests (one from Ordo and one from a kid), but you can’t do them for now. There is another quest, given by the engineer in the airship that you can’t do now.

Now you have to prepare for the boss fight. I suggest to exp in the devil assassin’s areas and the next areas until you get 70-71. If your equip don’t satisfy you, or if you want to do something new, you can consider crafting the Glory set (level 71). It is the only set that you can buy the recipes of. To craft the pieces you need thorium, that you can mine in the outland areas (from devil assassins and so on). Note that devil assassin drop enchant (required for wizard weapon), the flies drop barrels (mechanic weapon) and the venom slimes and the hell claymore drop mana stones and holies stones (required for paladin weapon and shield). Also note that some equipments may require “upgrade stones” for crafting, yeah, the ones you make by combining 2 items of the same levels. Be careful, the “N” stones used for the craft are the first N in your accessory inventory, so try to position the bad ones first. As to where to find other materials for the craft, see the item guide in this forum.

When you’re done with level ups and equipments, buy potions and food and go to the area with the yellow circle to fight Hades. Note that when you enter that zone you have to kill 5 evil soldier. And you have to do that every time you lose to hades. Yes, it’s frustrating.

STRATEGY: I think Hades is a boss that is very difficult at first impact, but very simple once you know how to counter his moves. He has a lot of attacks that can take you by surprise, leading to a dead end. The difficult thing is that you have to use your skills both to attack and defend. I’m talking about the “invincible skills”, the ones that grant you a moment of invulnerability when using them (like paladin’s hammers, wizard’s AOE, berserker’s spinning slash and mechanic’s flash,
but there are a lot more). I’ll try to elencate his attacks:

    - He will launch a semi-homing tornado at you. Easy to dodge, just move.

    - He will launch 3 semi-homing fire balls at you. Easy to dodge, sometimes he can use the tornado and this together.

    - He will fly and cast a magic circle below you. Even if you’re moving, it will take 1 hit. The trick is to use an invincible skill when he stopped rising, and he won’t cast the circle. Or, if he had already casted it, use the skill to not take damage.

    - He will disappear from the screen and go to one side to another of the screen, hitting you many time. I don’t think you can escape by running (maybe by dashing, but I don’t know), because he will adjust his attack to your position. The trick here is the same as before: just use you invincible skill when he start attacking, then he will attack only the same spot. So just go away as soon as possible and you avoided the attack. Or, if you have a skill like wizard’s teleport or berserker/paladin’s charge, you can just use that so you will automatically go away from your position.

    - The last attack is the deadlyiest. He will shoot a very fast… don’t know… air ball? from his mouth, minimizing all that he hits. When you’re little, you can’t use skills, your attacks do nothing and you die in 1-2 hits. If you get hit, try to escape until the effect vanishes (abnormal status potions won’t work). You can use healing potions in that state, but I don’t think they will be of much use. To avoid this attack, just don’t attack him from the front, or only use invincible skills to attack. You can see it coming, but if you’re not capable of getting away in an instant you will get it.

Recommended level: it greatly depends on your equips. If you want to take him down without problems, level 70-71 should be enough. You might want to craft some glory set pieces, not all the set (it takes a lot of times to get the items to do multiple crafts), but consider they are 70-71 equips that can give you a good improvement on your stats.

    Part 5 – Salvatore

After the Hades battle, go to magic city and talk to Ordo. Now you have to return to the area before Hades and go south instead of north. Here you have to kill 20 evil soldiers (note that this quest is repeatable) and some cyborg zombies (you need 18 upgrade parts from them). These monsters are in the “Outland south” and “Outland southwest” zones, and in the second one you can found a chest with an abnormal status potion in it. In the “Outland west” there are only evil soldiers with a miniboss that you can just ignore.

In the area after the miniboss there is another airship, you have to enter and go to the lowest level to kill a miniboss. You can do that even by ignoring the mobs in the upper levels. This miniboss area is good to make some level ups, so you might come back here again, kill the miniboss and exp by farming the crocodiles.

When you kill the miniboss, you will be in a new area where you have to kill 6 ectoplasm and 6 beholder.

Now, you should notice that your main quest objective is “escaping the phantom circle”. Basically, when you leave this area (except by south, if you go south you will return to the airship) and see the map, you are always in the same area. It’s a single zone with multiple zones, but it’s not too difficult to figure how they are connected:

    ............................................Boss Room
    .....................................................||
    .................................Zone 9 -- Zone 8 -- Zone 7
    ....................................................................||
    .................Zone 4 -- Zone 3 -- Zone 5 -- Zone 6
    ......................................|| .......... ||
    ..................................Zone 2 -- Zone 1
    ....................................................||
    .................................................Airship

    Monsters:
    - Zone 1: Ectoplasm and Beholders
    - Zone 2: Ectoplasm and Cerberus
    - Zone 3: Beholders and Cerberus
    - Zone 4: Ghost Heads and Hellfires. You can’t enter this zone until you visit zone 8.
    - Zone 5: Ghost Heads and Hellfires
    - Zone 6: Kumtra and miniboss (Bachschut). In this zone you can find a chest with an abyss entry ticket.
    - Zone 7: Ghosts Heads and Kumtras.
    - Zone 8: Hell sorcerers and Ancient Ents. And a chest that contains coated amulet.
    - Zone 9: Hell sorcerers and Ancient Ents.

To continue your main quest, you have to go to zone 6 and kill the miniboss. Now you can finish all the main quests and then farm some levels while doing subquests.

Go to zone 8 and view a scene, then go to zone 4 and open a chest for a quest item. Now, if you go to zone 8, you can have access to the final boss room. But before, some things to do:

Collect 20 Kumtra’s samples (from Kumtras) for a quest.
Collect 16 Devil’s sand (from Hell sorcerers) for a quest.
Collect 20 Hard bone Shards (from Ghost Heads) for a quest. To take this quest, you should return to the engineer in the “Airship deck” (see the map).

You can get the following titles: “Kumtra killer” (+20% STR) by killing 100 Kumtras. “Cerberus killer” (all stat +20) by killing 50 cerberi. “Super miner” (CON +15%) by mining 50 orichalcon.

When you got what you wanted, you can continue your leveling in the Kumtras zone, killing even the miniboss, because he drops lvl 90 equips. You can beat Salvatore at about 86+ but overlevelling a little gives you more chances to repeat that fight less times. However, it all depends on your equipment at this point.

You can consider even farming in Zone 8, because monsters there are at higher levels than Kumtras. Choose the one you want, keeping in mind that in Zone 6 you will get only equipments, in Zone 8 you will get mostly accessories. When you’re ready, go to Boss zone and fight Salvatore.

    STRATEGY:
This is the last boss, so it’s pretty difficult. Like Hades, you have to use your invincible skills to attack and defend, but Salvatore attacks more frequently than Hades, so most of the times you will be attacking him, he will be attacking you.

Here is a list of his attacks:

    - The most common one is that he send a shockwave in your direction. Not homing, so it’s pretty easy to avoid. He will do this a lot when you’re in his range, so if you don’t use attack and run strategy, you might get hit.

    - He can raise is hand and create an explosion in front of him. Easy to escape, just get away if you’re in front of him, then attack him from the sides or the back.

    - The most annoying attack is when he starts to glow, then he emits a black flash that will hit around him. If you’re near him you will get caught, and it does a lot of damage. If you’re pretty distant you can escape by dashing in the opposite direction. If you’re not, just use one of your invincible skills.

    - He can summon a clone of you. He is exactly like you, and you will notice he can kill you in 1 or 2 attacks. It means you can do the same to him, just use one of your invincible skill if you want to avoid a double KO. You can even wait until he disappears, but it’s a lot of time and it’s easy to lose concentration and get hit.

    - The last is not an attack, but a buff. He will stop a moment, then he will become a giant. You have only to escape, because your attacks will do very little damage and he will 1HKO you with everything. The bad thing is that in this form he has an high hp regeneration, and if he uses this buff lots of times your fight will last forever. Just try to damage him as hard as you can while he is little, and run/dash around when he is big.

You will repeat this fight much more times than other bosses’ fights, so don’t panic when you can’t kill him in the first try. You will meet a dead end every time you get distracted, because every of his attacks, even if they don’t 1HKO you, can hit multiple times and turn your hp to 0 if an instant. Moreover, you won’t be able to kill him if he uses his giant mode too much times, so just keep trying until you get lucky and meet a stupid Salvatore that don’t heals. Good luck!

    Part 6 – Hell mode

There are no more main quests in this mode. Your goal is to reach level 109, get the supreme gear and became the strongest. You can also challenge the secret boss in the new zone, the graveyard, but it drops nothing so it’s pointless.

There are new quests, but they are all repeatable (except 2 or 3), so it doesn’t change much doing them or not. And you don’t want to kill mobs and get quest items instead of level 94-99 equips. So it’s your choice.

Monsters in the map are more powerful, their levels go from 90 to 100, while you can find level 100+ monsters in the graveyard. To go there, just talk to the dimension teleporter in agran village. In the first zone there is the teleporter and an item merchant, in the last there is the secret boss. Monsters are in the intermediate zones, with crescent levels starting from the teleport zone. Only in the last zone before the boss there are lvl 108 monsters that drops lvl 109 equips. In the last 2 zones before the boss you can find mud titans, killing a lot of them gives you the mud destroyer title (+20% atk).

This is it, I think the guide is over. If I have more time I will try to do a better format of the text. For now, I accept suggestions, comment and all you want to say.

She carries their will as her pride, bidding them to remain steadfast in their loyalty.

I'm just giving tips to avoid dying countless time without knowing why. A guide that says what you have to do with every single character would be great but... it requires that you should have finished the "story" (i'm vomiting) with every character :S

I'm 1/2 of the way there.

I'll read it all in a bit and give you some feedback. Already found some things that can be adjusted. ^___^

Hm, I think it's all good except for the recommended level things. For example, you recommended 70+ gear & level 70 for Hades. My Paladin defeated him at 60, and my Mechanic defeated him at 66. My Paladin was using 45 equips. So yeah, the levels you're recommending require you to grind a lot before fighting the bosses.

Level 10 is enough for Tania. 30 for Haima. 50 for Kaz & Kazu. 65 for Hades. 85 for Salvatore. Not sure about equips, though. My Mechanic beat the game with ridiculously bad stuff... so yeah.

yeah you can do that even naked, if you know how to do. But i see people in the forum that lose a lot of time because they can't get past a boss. Now, it's better to use that time to grind than repeating the same tragic fate over and over.

It's all more difficult the first time you try :S
And i add the "X1" level just because if you want to equip a level X0 gear, the armor will be always X1.
And until Hades you can buy or craft the equipment you need, but of course you can just go at them with what you have.

EDIT: Added this to the first post:

IMPORTANT: I will give a general strategy for the bosses, along with a recommended level and gear. Note that my recommendation is not for the minimum condition you should have to fight that boss, but the maximum you can hope for. If you can't beat that boss when you're already at the recommended level, don't try to improve your character's status anymore. Instead, try to improve your player ability, like when and what skills to use and how to manually dodge enemy attacks.

Paladin's stuck on Salvatore... He keeps healing, and healing, and healing. The fact that I can tank him when he's in normal form doesn't really help, to be honest...

I'm near him with my full STR paladin xD

When i fought him with an hybrid paladin, food greatly helped me. Try to use the all stats+ and cooltime- items.
